Internationally known teacher, lecturer, and anti-racism activist and diversity trainer, Jane Elliot shared with the Branford community on the morning of January 18 during their 36th Annual MLK Day Celebration. Elliott is best known for her Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes exercise in which participants were labeled as inferior or superior based solely upon the color of their eyes. This powerful, yet controversial exposed her students to the experience of being a racial minority. The event sponsored by St. Stephens AME Zion Church and Branford Rotary celebrates the life of Dr. King, supports families in need, and brings the community together., organizers say. Proceeds from the virtual MLK event benefit the Branford Food Pantry, Fuel Assistance programs, and more.
